The month of October brought fall weather with crisp cool evenings and beautiful colorful leaves. It also ended with ghouls, goblins, and ghosts along with princesses, pirates, and superheroes. Trick or Treat 2021 in Old Ellicott City was a monumental success! With the backdrop of the blue sky, it made for the perfect afternoon to don your best costume and head to Ellicott City's Main Street for your favorite Halloween tradition. My girls loved this awesome event, it was one of our fun family traditions.
Every Halloween, the young and the young at heart, stroll the street from one end to the other, then cross the street and head back to where they started, filling their bags, buckets, and pillowcases along the way. Residents and business owners alike love this day of the year and the joy it brings. It seems that even through costumes and masks we could see the smiles of the trick or treaters. The streets have always been packed on October 31, but this year seemed like it was Halloween on steroids. We've always bought enough candy for 600+ joyful costumed friends, this time we bought extra...and we ran out by 5:20pm! After talking with my colleagues, we're guessing we had well over 1000 guests! It was a phenomenal afternoon.
Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the beautiful day with us. Thank you to Ellicott City Partnership for continuing to sponsor and promote this event. Thank you to Mark Hemmis of The Phoenix Upper Main for organizing the candy donations and the volunteers needed to pass out the candy along the length of the street where there are no storefronts.
Thanks for enjoying this beautiful and charming town. See you soon for your holiday shopping.
Hope you enjoy these photos.
